Thank you for your support of AltSearchEngines. Rest assured we will look over this great list to see if we are missing any! Our total is now well over the 1,000 that we started with, and grows every day. Please stop by anytime.

Here at work, we’ve all switched to Open Office. Not only is it easier to use, but it cost us nothing to setup and install. The $12400 that was saved went right into our pockets: every employee got an Open Office bonus of $250 in their paycheck last August, with an additional $1650 used to refurnish the office kitchen.

Good post - I never really considered it as a replacement for the camera software...it seems totally obvious now! I think that the digicam manufacturers should just include an OEM copy of Picasa anyway...!

Thanks for the link! I've added you as well.

To make this comment topical, I think this was a valuable post (how to protect yourself at wireless hotspots). My parents travel a lot, and they are constantly on wifi spots at various truck stops, restaurants, etc.

I'm forwarding this link to my dad ;)

Thanks, Zulfikar - Wired routers aren't as popular among home and small-business users, but they are certainly out there. The post has been edited accordingly. Please stop by and comment any time, and thanks for the link!

Thanks for bringing this work to peoples' attention. One quick thing I wanted to clarify is that the attack is not necessarily limited to wireless routers. The same methodology could be applied both wired and wireless routers (so long as the attacker can guess the password). Some more information can be found on the Symantec Security Response Blog...
Thanks much,
Zulfikar
